Negatives to Positives
Today I’d like to bring you the story of a rider who managed to do something some of us only wish we could do: take a tragic event and turn it into something positive that can be looked back on as a valuable experience that ultimately led to something better overall…
We begin with “StrayTowel” (ST) tracking his Ninja ZX6R around the Thunderbolt Raceway at New Jersey Motorsports Park last season. After a confident pass through a left hand turn in a predominantly right handed course, ST didn’t have all the grip he was relying on which resulted in a highside and a face full of dirt. Some trashed gear and a few bruises later thankfully ST was left unscathed save perhaps a little ego bruising on top of the black-and-blue (This is also a testament to shelling out for quality gear, don’t be a squid)
To tie himself over until the end of the season, ST opted to take off his vinyl wrap, and using some zip-ties produced a function-before-form look that is reminiscent of two-face from Batman. As cool as it was, ST decided to take winter off to do some major work on improving the bike’s aesthetic.
So over the course of the next few months he went to work:
When all was said and done, the final product really speaks for itself, it looks fantastic!
